40th anniversary year

The orchestra is excitedly making preparations for its 40th year. The subscribers program is virtually complete and we will be welcoming back past soloists and conductors for a year of celebration. Brahms, Beethoven, Weber and Vivaldi all feature in a great concerto line-up including some double concertos. One highlight with the orchestra will be John Wells’s performance on St Mathews newly installed organ. But I will leave revelations to the season brochure.

This new website has been prepared as part of our preparations for our 40th anniversary year. We hope it will become a platform for us to easily keep in touch with you. Certainly we aim to use it to communicate with our players but also to keep you posted not only on our performances but, on occasion, the various reviews, musings and happenings that continue in between concerts. I would like to think we could share the incidents large and small that make performances an event between musicians and audience – we are after all a community orchestra and we want your voice heard too.

We look forward to telling you more of what’s to come.

Meanwhile go well, regards

David Kayrouz
Chair for St Matthews Chamber Orchestra
